Like, where do you see some of the things you're playing around with heading in the next decade?
21:37
Yeah.
21:39
Oh, that's a big question.
21:40
Well, for my sonic starquake collection, I've been experimenting with these very unusual materials.
21:50
One of them was plasma, which is the fourth state of matter.
21:54
And I've been experimenting with a lot of types of materials like, of course, solids, but also liquids and also gases.
22:04
Even for like the Met Gala look, there was helium inside.

How did you two meet, walk me through that collaboration? Anyone who goes to see your Brooklyn Museum show will see his name throughout the
28:22
And what do you make of this sort of almost mainstreaming of, of craft and the making process of, of some of, of the sort of bigger conglomerates using the term craft especially, almost like a marketing term these days? Where, w- yeah, what is your kind of take when you look at the, the industry as a whole and how it's been approaching this?
28:43
Yeah, if you look at fashion as a, as a whole, as a industry, yeah, craftsmanship is not a big player anymore.
28:52
Like, uh, most of it is of course, uh, mass production and fast fashion, and I think that's another reason that I do what I do because couture has such a beautiful history of where art and fashion collide and where there is time and space to actually experiment, to make mistakes as well, but also to, uh, innovate and to create new materials, and that involves, um, so much passion and love, and, uh, we just don't wanna lose that.
29:28
It's so important, um, I think even for the industry as a whole, to keep seeing and explaining what the origins of fashion are.
29:40
Because now it's of course a fast fashion mass production industry, but it has come from local communities, uh, creating for themselves by hand.
29:54
So many, um-Like philosophies and religion and, yeah, identity has always been part of the way we create fashion, and I feel therefore it's really important to, to continue that evolution of craftsmanship in the 21st century as well.
30:15
And it gets even more exciting, in my opinion, with infusing the contemporary, um, technologies, uh, that are available today into those traditions of craftsmanship because then you get whole new versions, uh, of these techniques.
31:17
Has it changed the way you work? Or do you see a lot of potential in the future? On the other hand, does it scare you a bit where technology and especially AI is getting to?
