Why Traditional Teaching Is Failing | The Future of Blended Learning with Ingrid Hovdar-Stojakovic
11:56
6:06
Well, the four pillars of learning are the learning to know and that means that we equip our students or our learners.
6:19
I really like to move away a little bit from the concept of student because everyone's a learner and in a formalized context we want to equip learners with learning tools and that is very much how to break down information what aspects are relevant for the context that you are currently in We need to train them in their ability to use cognitive skills, to connect information and to critically reflect information, which is a huge topic nowadays, because as we discussed before, information is everywhere.
7:16
And that is also what we need to make our students understand that when they go to certain social media, for instance, to inform themselves, critically reflect on what the information content there is, what the source is, where does this come from? And further in this aspect of learning to know, we also really want to provide them with an understanding of how beneficial it is to keep an open mind to be ready to learn wherever you go.
7:52
The second pillar is the learning to do, and that refers to applying the knowledge that you have gathered, that you have first critically reflected and that also you can select the application method appropriate to the context that you are currently in.

What should teachers actually be doing now that students can learn so much on their own?
