Could you tell us a little bit about your theme and your vision for this year's Congress?
3:29
Yeah.
3:29
I mean, obviously, at the start of this, you know, we are a good bunch of people that love to have a laugh and a joke.
3:35
But at the end of the day, the presidential theme for this year was everyday welfare.
3:39
And anyone that knows me and probably everyone that doesn't now, now knows that welfare is a really important thing to me.
3:46
I'm very close to my heart and it's my sole purpose for me.
3:49
being a vet, sticking with practice and wanting to share all the information I've learned and got from colleagues, with colleagues, with clients, you know, to better animal well-being for the animals under our care.

it that's how we keep it all cost effective right and that's how you know we enable this to then give back to everybody whether you're a student all the way up someone who's retired and just wants to come and see people that they've worked with for years you know it's it is an absolutely something for everyone and we oh sorry Lucy

What have been the biggest things that you've heard from equine practitioners on the ground so far during your year Imogen and I suppose has anything really surprised you?
1:16
Yeah, I mean, I think it was, it doesn't really sound like it, but for the equine sector, I think it was quite a brave theme.
1:23
And I may be not so brave.
1:25
For me, it was just really important to stay true to what mattered to me.
1:29
And at the end of the day, the welfare of the horse comes first and foremost, and the welfare of the people around me and the wellbeing of those people, because without those two things, firstly, we've lost the point of our vocation, which is to champion the wellbeing of the animals that we care for, regardless of species.
1:43
And secondly, to champion each other, to do our jobs as well as we can do them.
1:47
And we are a team.

But when it comes to sort of that very early stage where clinicians are learning the trade, as it were, are we doing enough to help them along their journeys?
