All right, so what's in it that makes it so special? What is it, ZIF-67 and zinc oxide? What are they and what are they doing that has this effect?

The fabric itself is made from a thermoplastic polyurethane or TPU.

And so this is a type of polyurethane which becomes pliable, malleable when it's heated, and then it hardens once it's cooled.

Now, the TPU doesn't give the fabric its really interesting cooling properties.

It's these nanoparticles that they have incorporated into it.

So the purple colour comes from the material ZIF-67.

Now, this is what's called a metal organic framework, and it's made up of this repeating crystalline structure of cobalt ions linked by these organic carbon-containing compound.

Where's this going to go? Are we all going to be wearing purple T-shirts and there are going to be purple cars and this is going to be pretty common technology, you think, Emma? Yeah.
