So I'm curious on that trip what you learned or what kind of exchange was had and how you see that maybe being implemented here in LA, if possible.

Imelda PadillaGUEST
Um, specifically to talk about international policy and how it, um, is relevant to, to big cities.

Imelda PadillaGUEST
So I was there for, uh, the Mexican-American Policy Alliance, which is an organization that is trying to, um, bring more cognizance to how our, um, our economic, uh, relationship, uh, exists with Mexico, right? So, um, what we were doing in that conference was emphasizing, um, the importance of how much that, uh, international agreement, um, impacts our local communities.

Imelda PadillaGUEST
So I was there, we were there to, to talk about that importance and also figuring out what the future of NAFTA can look like.

And so now parks are important to you and the vote actually, happened yesterday tell us more about it

Imelda PadillaGUEST
correct so originally the city of los angeles was doing a parks needs assessment and i was very excited about it and i was pushing people to go attend the meetings because you know i wanted people to say stuff like we need new bathrooms or the grass can have some love or we want a community garden or we want more art or we you know want amenities to the uh pool site So I was very excited about that because that parks needs assessment was supposed to turn into a ballot measure to start funding our parks.

Imelda PadillaGUEST
And I was wondering, well, what happened here, right? And I've been very intentional to improve the parks in my region.

Imelda PadillaGUEST
So I just kind of let that greater movement and that greater survey just, it just kind of left my mind.

Imelda PadillaGUEST
But then it was actually my colleague, Monica Rodriguez, who told me, no one took the parks needs assessment serious to turn it into a bond.
