The first one I wanna relate to you is: Why does trying to make plans with people to try and seek human connection, specifically, feel like begging?
13:28
Hmm.
13:30
That's true, and I feel this sometimes because I'm the type of person that loves to have game nights with friends, right? Or loves to have, like, friends over at the house, or even loves to go to friends' houses.
13:40
I like being with friends and people who I consider dear to me.
13:43
But even my closest friends, my best friend who gave the best man speech at my wedding just this weekend, I still sometimes feel... and this is no fault of his, it's, it's just in my head, feel like a burden asking him to come over 'cause I'm...
13:55
And he lives literally five minutes away.
13:57
Like, we're in the same city.
16:36
Next question: How can I balance my need for connection with my tendency to burn out from too much socializing?
28:24
through.
28:25
I appreciate you sharing.
28:26
No, but of course, but I see that a lot.
28:30
And very vulnerable people, they're wearing a hospital gown, right Lee? Like it's not, it's, I respect patients so much because of what they have to go through when I think about just something as simple as the humility of having to wear a hospital gown.
28:51
Um, and so, yeah, like it draped over skinny shoulders.
28:55
Um, yeah, that's kind of like my first thought is it's interesting when I, when I applied for the ICU, I had this very strange dichotomy of emotions, um, I was shadowing someone in the ICU.
29:10
So before I had worked officially there, I shadowed someone and I put in my application.
32:29
I mean, that
28:01
[laughs] I appreciate you sharing.
28:03
No, but of course.
28:04
But I see that a lot and very vulnerable people.
28:07
They're wearing a hospital gown.
28:10
I respect patients so much because of what they have to go through when I think about just something as simple as the humility of having to wear a hospital gown.
28:19
And so, yeah, like, it draped over skinny shoulders.
28:21
It's interesting, when I, when I applied for the ICU, I had this very strange dichotomy of emotions.
30:50
I wonder, given your love of connecting with people and your skill at paying attention and conversing, did you find yourself in that ICU context wanting to avoid making those kind of connections so that you didn't have further trauma yourself out of that?
