What made you go vegan and, and was there a kind of epiphany for you as there is for so many people?

Helen VoroninaGUEST
I always loved animals, and when I was, uh, mm, very young, I didn't realize, I didn't make the connection straight away, and as a, as a lot of vegetarians and vegans say.

Helen VoroninaGUEST
Uh, but the connection that I did make between, uh, animals on the plate and animals that we see maybe happened at around the age of three, four, the-- I had a chicken at home, and the chicken would come to the door, would run to the door and meet me after school.

Helen VoroninaGUEST
And even though I didn't understand how the animals got on our plates, I made a connection very early that that's a chicken and that's a chicken.

Helen VoroninaGUEST
Uh, and then I remember a moment when, um, uh, when I visited a family that was farming pigs, and they kept these pigs in a dungeon, and it was very dirty, and it was very crammed, and there were little piglets there.
