Baxter says the office under Johnson saw a communication breakdown between desk and citizen.
5:10
One of the hugest things is just a lack of communication.
5:13
And as a State Department, I feel all State Departments should be available to the people of South Dakota when it's business hours.
5:22
As a business owner myself, communication was a high priority.
5:27
And so I think communication, whether it's with our business owners, the general population in South Dakota, or our auditors, we need to prove that we have five-star communication.

Baxter says instead of hard policy proposals today, she'll first take a critical eye to the election system if voted in.
8:51
How is it set up with BIT, the Bureau of Information and Technology, have opportunity to look at the contracts and see are they federally compliant? Are they state compliant? and are the security measures up to date? And until you can actually see that, I think it's difficult to give to say whether there's any security issues, because I just haven't had that opportunity.
9:12
And I think that that's only fair to be able to collaborate with the parties involved.
14:29
How do you appease that thirst? And is that my assessment of what happened with Monet the same as yours?
14:37
Yeah.
14:39
I mean, my personal opinion, I think you're correct from the rack cards that she was handing out to what she was saying at the events I was going to, that there was that appetite that she wanted to go in there and And take care of that and to prove to the people of South Dakota that there was transparency, that the office was accountable on elections.
15:03
And so, yeah, whether it was she got in there and everything was fine or whether it was she got in there and was told to stand down or I mean, there's it's it's you know, you can only come upon conclusions that are potentially not correct until we would ask her, you know, and get her feedback.
17:26
And so, I mean, do you think I mean, is that something that you think that the office secretary of state's office needs to look into, like more into the under the hood on these tabulators? Sure.
17:36
I believe that there's nothing wrong with doing that to just, you know, whether it's to calm the storm of the people that feel there are issues.
17:45
I think they're seeing other states which have different vendor suppliers and are having issues.
17:52
I think that continues to raise the question, okay, well then do the vendors here in South Dakota have some of the same components or have some of the same issues that we're seeing these other states starting to come out with as well as, you know, If everything's good with them, then prove that to the public.
