What did happen? in September what does it look like and what are the year-to-date trends that you're starting to see from the new entry Chinese manufacturers
22:58
what I what did happen is September was even bigger than I anticipated I think last time I said I wonder whether how much they will whether they'll throttle back because the expansion has been so significant but actually we've seen them put their foot onto the throttle so let's start with number one in the pop charts BYD now a year today has a 3.9% market share.
23:22
As a brand who only turned up in 2023, they are bigger now than Nissan, Peugeot and Hyundai to give you a sense of the scale of expansion.
23:32
In that period since last year, Nissan has dropped back from a 4.5% market share, Peugeot back from 4.4%, and Hyundai 4.75%.
23:42
So we're seeing those heritage brands being absolutely shattered by the Chinese new entrants.
23:52
BYD, I'm sorry about all the data, but just gives you a sense of the scale of it, for September only, had a 5.7% market share.
24:02
which it means that that puts it up just, it just puts it up, it puts it up right up in the top 10 players.

Where do you think we'll be by the end of the year in terms of the sort of market share and who some of the winners will be amongst the new entrant Chinese brands?
14:36
I mean, how did August look and what are the year-to-date trends looking like for you now on the analysis you've been looking at?
14:46
August has really been very interesting because traditionally August is a dead month because you've got the month for plate change and what my children might call meh.
14:56
However, what I found fascinating about it is a couple of things.
15:00
Firstly, it grew by 9.8% year on year.
15:04
which if you annualize that says the market's going to be about 2.1 million units by the end of the year, but obviously September will actually make it higher than that.
15:12
So that was interesting that actually there were new car, quite a lot of new car sales in August, but more importantly is the Chinese.
15:20
absolutely took up that rise.

How did they perform over the course of the month?
