Tell just maybe a brief rendition of the miracle for you to be here today.

Sure, absolutely.

I, healthy, worn.

Yeah, at the age of four, they thought I had a rough case of mommy-itis.

It ended up being heart disease.

They thought like between the crying and all that part, it was just separation anxiety.

I think, again, that goes back to the parent and knowing when you're having a gut feeling, something isn't just quite right.

What does accountability look like in this?

And now back to the show.

I mean, again, that was one of the things that I faced.

Um, and sometimes it's worth as a badge of honor because, oh, well that means, um, only I understand only I do.

So guess what? I only, I get to make the decisions because only I really know what's best for everybody.

And in that, what does that mean? You become an elitist, you become a, you know, just a, uh, yes.

And not only an executive, but an exclusive, this is exclusivity to that.

And that's a dangerous place to play in, uh, for anything, um, in, in relationships and in business.

I have to focus on one at a time.

So before becoming a leadership strategist, what was your path through business and leadership roles?

Well, as I mentioned, my upbringing was very difficult because I had heart disease and two heart attacks, so I wasn't necessarily allowed in school.

So even the entire part of education was even such a question.

But this is the thing, and this is really where I encourage anybody who's going through the hardship, any hardship really that keeps you bound, is that your environment really is your teacher.

So I started learning from my hospital bed.

Actually, my first book that I wrote, Hustle With Heart, is a framework, that framework was born from being in a hospital for years at a time.

It was in and out, in and out for weeks.

Or find someone who actually knows the system and hire them to properly train the staff or whoever they have under them.

What are some of those common pitfalls that you've seen with leadership, and how do you overcome those pitfalls?

Absolutely.

Well, thanks for asking that.

I would say nonprofit has a special place in my heart because they were really the first ones to give me a chance.

So I would say nonprofit for me as a, as a kid that really didn't have, you know, the normal childhood experience, didn't even know what I wanted to do, all I really could connect with was somebody else communicating their passion.

And I'm like, "Hey, that resonated with me," and I wanted to help with the passion.

So one of the first things I would say with a nonprofit is that clarity and that vision and that clarity and that passion.

How can they specifically use it to strengthen culture, trust, and also team alignment when it comes to their organizations?
