So could you start off with just describing psychosis in terms of what might a young person or child even experience if they were becoming unwell and developing a psychotic illness?
3:39
It can be strange, isn't it? The way that what seems to be the easiest question can often be the hardest question to answer.
3:45
So I think, as you mentioned, there's quite a lot of lack of understanding of what psychosis means.
3:50
And in some ways, it can often be easy describing what psychosis isn't.
3:55
So we quite often hear in the news or on films, on the radio, people saying, oh, that person was psychotic.
4:02
And what they generally mean in those circumstances is not psychosis.
4:06
It's somebody who is acting in an unusual way, who may be doing things that you think are not right.

Is there anything that is more likely to kind of point to what the outcome might be for the young person in front of you? What might you be thinking about?
25:26
So can you talk me through, how did the idea come about?
25:33
So it's an accumulation of all of my thinking and my clinical and clinical leadership career.
25:41
So it's why are we struggling so much to provide the high quality mental health care that we know not just children, but children and adults need? Why have we got waiting lists that are continuing to grow? I've done this GERF report.
25:56
I've identified areas that need to change, but it's still a struggle to get those changes into place.
26:01
I've done my local leadership.
26:02
We know what needs to change, but it's still a struggle.
26:06
I've done the quality improvement work.

How do you see that landscape and how are you looking to differentiate from your own background?
