... how did, uh, it start?

There was a very short-lived network up here in Canada called The Documentary Channel, and I had made a film with Isabella Rossellini about her father, Roberto Rossellini.

She wrote it, I directed it, she starred in it.

And it's supposedly a documentary, but it's more of a documentary of her feelings about her father, and it's a bit of a fantasia as well.

So I remember we just called it a docu-fantasia, and that's the genre that I just kept on working within.

For My Winnipeg, it's, it's really less a documentary about the city than a, than a documentary about my relationship with the city.

Oh, and the relationship with my hometown, my home, and the people I love inside that home, you know? So I, I found them inseparable, so.
