How Can Short Docs Make a Big Difference?

I'm just wondering, as somebody who works on impact, how do you see these opportunities, just any branding opportunity, how do you see that when we're thinking about who makes the film and for who? Just making sure that the community being represented gets as much out of the documentary as the brand that's funding the project.

So just for, I think, example, when you're thinking about production, you're applying for something that you're thinking about the full story.

And as you said, I think at the core of it, and if you're in charge of how does the story come to life, that you're thinking about, hey, are these stories being told authentically? What is the voice to them? And if you do that at the beginning and don't try to think about that at the end or in the edit room, you end up with a better product and a better film, but it's also, authentically then better for the brand and everybody involved, right? So I think it's sometimes starting in pre-production where you're thinking about, all right, who are these voices? Who are these people that are telling it? And are we honoring them? Are we honoring, again, the truth of that story? But I think at the same time too, from a impact distribution perspective too, is like, what are the opportunities to then and use your own voice to be able to share that with audiences that, again, may not get to see this without the brand or without the funding or without the opportunities, as I know you included distribution to that.

So I think thinking about that, all throughout the process of production and making sure, again, like, as anybody who's been through different production meetings, they understand, too.

And from my impact perspective, it is often, all right, how are we making sure that we are including as part of either the deal or the decisions that we make that, again, people are being honored in their truth and dignity throughout the process.
