First question is if you could tell me your name and what you do for a living.
30:55
Greg Wasserman, currently head of relationships at RSS.com.
31:26
As for RSS.com, they went a step beyond.
31:29
I mean, our philosophy is people over profits.
31:32
Like, we care about people, which is why we, A, moved really quickly on this.
31:37
B, paid Sanderson the money that was on this show because it was his show.
23:05
That's what usually goes down.
23:06
Yeah.
23:10
You're right.
23:12
And it is true in what I say.
23:14
I mean, I've lost two jobs because of it.
23:16
You are tied to their algorithms, their media companies.
23:19
They are here to use us as their pawns to make money and give you the build brand.

31:02
And you can use that money to do what you want to do with it, right? And so you can put it in the ad spend all day or whatever you want to do.
23:25
What would you advise them as a method for choosing whether or not to join a particular network?
23:34
I always say understand your why.
23:36
I think one of the things I've got and I'm working on from a training based on this is if you understand your why of why you're podcasting, therefore how you want to make money doing it.
23:47
So if I take Jason's in the Marketing Podcast Network, I'm not in this to make money on sponsorships and ads.
23:56
I'm in this to be around a group of like-minded marketing shows then why wouldn't I join this? Now, the only reason you wouldn't maybe want to join this is you would then have to change your host, move to the hosting platform that Jason's operating out of.
24:13
And you may be like, oh, that's too much work.
24:15
Yes, that saves me some money on the hosting cost fees, but the work that I have to go through to change there isn't worth it.

26 MINS LATER

50:44
Oh, it's all AI
24:14
Yeah
24:14
... opportunities that I get, and what is it I'm actually looking for? Uh, if you look at our quintessential iHeart, why would I go join iHeart? Well, I know they're gonna inject nine minutes of ads because they have a high ad load.
24:28
That's where they make their money.
24:30
Their contracts are volume-based, so they're trying to get as many shows as in that network because the more net shows in there, it means the more impressions, which means they're able to sell more because at the end of the day, it's all about the ad dollars there.
24:42
They're not in there from a community standpoint, so good luck actually meeting other podcasters on that network.
24:47
They're not collaborating on that from what I gather.
24:50
Um, I've got Nathan coming up on the show, but from what I gather, like that is not their, their core.

25 MINS LATER

[chuckles]
