What have you seen from him, and do you expect Seattle to use a similar kind of approach offensively?

I've seen him in bubble wraps for the last month, but he didn't play at all in the preseason.

They just said, nope, he's too valuable.

We're not even going to risk him.

Shadarian Price has not played a football game of any kind, guys, since last November 29th for Notre Dame at Stanford.

Notre Dame then decided not to go to play a bowl game because they were ticked off.

They didn't get to the college football playoff.

Greg, speaking of Sam Darnold, what can we expect from him tonight after a disappointing, as he's described it, Super Bowl performance?

And if there are any young players across this wide country of ours who are listening and thinking about, "Well, should I go to Notre Dame? Should I go here? Should I go there?" Tell them what the Notre Dame education did for you.

Well, I think more so than anything, it, uh, like any businessman that wants to get out into the world, part of his business is networking.

And, uh, I don't think I could have found a stronger place to learn and develop that network- networking skills, as well as the contacts that you're gonna meet.

You, you'll be amazed at the people that you were in your classroom with or you happen to m- pass by in the quad who are the kind of people that you want to work with in life.

And there are a lot of CEOs that have come from Notre Dame.

Uh, there are a lot of well, well-off professionals, a lot of real estates, a lot of millionaires that have left us, and, uh, we do a lot of business now, and I enjoy it.

Uh, I wouldn't have picked another university.

Um, is there a position group, is there one of those departures that in your mind stands out more than any other, and what do you make of kinda maybe the training camp way that, that the Seahawks are trying to replace that particular player?

Well, there's two.

One, they hired Brian Flurry to be the new offensive coordinator out of the Shanahan system, the former tight end coach for Shanahan and the 49ers, to continue running the ball.

This team ran the ball at 50% last year, spent most of the season number one in rush rate, ended up third behind Buffalo and Baltimore just behind them.

They're gonna run it again.

But now their Super Bowl MVP running back, their starting running back from the previous four years is gone.

But do you think the Seahawks have established themselves as one of those teams that can withstand those injuries with the culture that they've built and with the leaders that they have in place?

And I, uh, uh, realize that you're probably on your phone nonstop regarding world championship coming up this September, right?

Um, not necessarily, uh, as I was sharing earlier, uh, I'm very grateful, uh, that, uh, Man, I've got some really good people behind me and not really behind me, but really in front of me, I guess.

up, what got you into football in the first place? Growing up, I was watching my cousin play when I was a kid.

That inspired me to want to play.

Also watching movies and stuff like that.

I remember the Titans, Friday Night Lights.

That just inspired me to want to play football.

What was that experience like?

It was good.

Yeah, you were finishing your thoughts on we were talking about how defenses are kind of ahead of offenses right now in the NFL, despite many of the hires being associated with offensive football.

Right.

And the Seahawks had a choice to make.

Are they going to stay up with the offenses? Yes.

Or are they going to go defense? And they went with a defensive mind that they thought was the most innovative defensive mind in the league at the time, Baltimore Ravens defense coordinator Mike McDonald.

And they hired him to, say, beat Sean McVay and beat Kyle Shanahan.

And what did he have to do to get to the Super Bowl? Exactly that.

But what's your favorite interesting storyline nugget about this game tomorrow?

Just tell me more about what McDonald did to the defense to get this team to play like this from a personnel and from a schematic standpoint.

Well, when they hired, when they chose to go to fire Pete Carroll in January 2024 and chose John Schneider's path forward, Jody Allen, the team chair, chose that, They hired Mike McDonald with two mandates.

One, beat Kyle Shanahan in the 49ers.

Two, beat Sean McGinnis in the Rams.

Because they're not going to win a division in home playoff games until they do those two things, right? They were still third in their own division for the last half dozen years or so.

And so that was job one, and he's done that.

He's certainly done that with San Francisco.

There was a period of time where it was an offensive league, and I'm not trying to downplay it, but it feels like it's more of a defensive league right now.
