[laughs] Um, I've, I've had an interest in nutritional support, particularly in trauma and surgical patients, for a lot of my career.

Um, and it's mostly been clinical, um, having been for the director of nutritional support services first at Parkland and then at Harborview.

And that sort of role sort of involved me a lot with the nutrition support services and the dieticians in particular, who at both of those hospitals have been, had always been incredibly sort of interested in evidence-based nutritional support.

Um, most of my work initially had been sort of clinical in this, in this realm, sort of understanding how we provide nutritional support following sort of evidence-based guidelines as best as possible.
1:55
Um, and then at one point, one of my research fellows was interested in sort of, sort of linking sort of back our clinical interest with some metabolomics work, and he connected us with some of the metabolomics experts at, you know, at my institution.
