... that's the real, the r- in, in my opinion, the real threat to national security is if you've got the brave men and women within the Australian Defense Force that are seeing something anomalous in Australian airspace that they cannot readily explain, identify or reconcile, and they're choosing not to report it because of the ridicule and stigma that plagues this topic.

That is a massive concern, and anecdotal evidence of that is a couple of years ago, Ross Coulthart said in a, a, a public event that he had an F-35 pilot sit down with him in his living room in his home and say to him, "Look, Ross, we're seeing things in our skies that we can't explain, and they're doing anomalous things." And Ross said, "Would you report that?" And he responded, "What do you think? I'm getting a clear message from the Chief of Air Force that our leadership is not taking this topic seriously." So not reporting it is the real concern, and unfortunately, Australia is really in the same position today as the United States was probably a decade ago.

And kudos to the, the, the work that AARO has done.

I know AARO is very, it's a very contentious subject.

But AARO was vital in helping implement mandatory reporting procedures.

So if you see something, you now have to report it, and I think that needs to be something that Australia has to follow suit on, and h- they have to implement some sensible see something, say something reporting pro- protocols because there is nothing in place at the moment.
