But what are you doing internally to to to to to to address that increased volume?

Yeah, so you're right, Colin, in terms of the volume is up now to over 16,000 contacts to the office and that's up from just over 11,000 last year.

So it's a 45% increase.

In terms of the reason, and I'll come to your exact question, but in terms of kind of the reason why we're getting these increases in volumes, we think a lot of it is down to the use of generative AI.

Yeah.

And I think we have to be careful how we kind of talk about that because there is a positive for individuals because they can, you know, individually be able to exercise their rights in circumstances that maybe without the use of AI they would not have been able to do so in the past.

So that's a positive.

Yeah, absolutely.

And did those specifics include St. Lomond's Hospital in Mullingar?

Yes, they do indeed.

So this issue first kind of kept our attention back in In October 2023, we received a notification from the HSE in relation to St. Lawrence Hospital there in Mullingar, where individuals had gained unauthorised access to paper records that were stored there.

And a month later, in November 2023, we got another breach notification from the HSE in relation to a similar issue with St. Conall's Hospital in Letterkenny.

Some of your listeners may recall, David, there were videos uploaded to social media at the time by intruders who had gone into both the facilities, highlighting the medical records.

There were videos going that could show not only the medical records there, but the state that both of the facilities were in.

I was going to ask you about this because you did say that the HSE notified the DPC about these issues, but the failure to notify within a certain time period, that was a failing on their part.

Yeah.

So there will be an imbalance but I think the important thing for CK is to local if the more local lads between Carlow and Kilkenny are and you're not you're not just taking in local lads there's really good players like really really good players that's the important thing because then once the crowd once they get a base and they kind of follow it I think the quality will get better.

I think the quality starting off will be really good, really high.

The main driver of complaints to this office every year, and it's no different, it was no different in 2025, is to deal with what we call subject access requests.

So this is where individuals want to get information from an organisation that the organisation holds on them.

And people come to us and complain to us because they either don't get responses, They're not satisfied with the response.

They say that it's not all of the information that the organization holds on them, or indeed the organization has taken too long to respond to them.

It was very good at it.
