But for newcomers or those who aren't, can you give us a whirlwind tour of your background? And then we can kick things off here today.
2:22
Yeah.
2:22
I'll, I'll, I'll keep it brief, but I, uh, was originally a professional rugby league player back in the mid-'90s.
2:30
Uh, for a variety of reasons, that career didn't go in the direction I would've liked it to go in, so embarked on a second career.
2:38
And that second career has been as a university academic.
2:41
So I'm now at Liverpool John Moores University, where I'm a professor of human physiology.
2:46
Uh, and I wrote the master's degree in sport nutrition, which has gone on to be a great success.

And the last one for you in terms of y- and you've touched on some great advice already, but you know, for a practitioner working with athletes or looking to pursue a career in performance nutrition, you know, what's a piece or two of advice that you might give?
13:54

14:04
Yeah.
14:05
I, I think you only need to look at, you know, the health of modern society to realize that there's something not quite right.
14:12
Um, a- and part of that, I think, is the, the convenience of, of less than desirable food.
14:20
You know, i- if I was, when I was growing up, if I wanted a, a quick break at lunch, y- you might have a, an, a cup of coffee.
14:29
These days you have a, a frappuccino, don't you? 1600 calories with whipped cream and then a, a muffin at the side, and before you know it, you've had your day's worth of calories in, in a little convenient, um, convenient drink.
14:44
So th- there's lots of areas where it's going wrong.
