Do you wanna share a couple of reasons why that is so complicated?

Yeah.

I think first and foremost, it's complicated because these types of diseases often affect the poorest people on the planet.

And so there is not the incentive, financial incentive for pharmaceutical companies, for businesses to really invest in this space as heavily as some others.

And rightly so, because th- they are responsible for making money for their shareholders, things like that.

So the lion's share of the investment in these spaces is really through government agencies or philanthropic organizations, and so what you find is that advances in these sometimes lags behind that of other, other diseases.

That's one thing.

So when you look back at your career trajectory, and you've sort of touched on this a little bit, but I'd love to hear in specifics, what are some of the experiences, skill sets, and/or knowledge that you took from your previous roles and previous areas of research that you think will be especially instrumental as director of the Mechanism Discovery Unit?
