What do I know about Stanford? Look, I'll say this much.

Quarterback Davis Warren played for Michigan before he had an injury, ended up transferring out, went to Stanford now, as we all know.

He had a solid showing in his first outing for the Cardinal just in week zero against Hawaii.

I will say, though, because I know they just had on – the guys over on Canes or TV, John, John Michaels and Brad Tata.

They had on a Stanford insider.

Some of their take on it was that they played well against Hawaii and everything.

Because we've seen that play out with Cam.

Yeah, so what I'll say even too about the offense, like I hope this doesn't get like people alarmed or anything, but I've shared this a few times and I'm going to repeat it again on here.

This offensive line, they are going to be able to perform better offensively the running game than even the prior unit.

And the prior unit was pretty damn good, but I think pass protection It will be a culmination of experience and time throughout the season as they continue to gel and get chemistry.

And as they round out, what is their actual starting lineup? Because there could still be some shifts along the way.

But yeah, I think Miami is going to be able to run the ball at will when they want to.

And I think the beauty of it, too, is you're going to be able to spread teams out because of the receivers you have.

But Jackson Carver in particular, he had a good scrimmage performance last week.

He had a touchdown actually, as a matter of fact.

He's a veteran guy that's been cutting his teeth.

He was a little raw coming in 'cause he was a former lacrosse athlete who was committed to Notre Dame for lacrosse coming out of high school, then flipped to Miami for football.

So he knew what was up.

I had to keep some notes here for this one because this kid.

Is he special? Exploding as a prospect the last couple months.

Miami's got a game day visit with him for October 17th.

But this kid's taking 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 game day visits from September to November.

He's visiting LSU, Texas, Ole Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, Alabama, Miami, Michigan, Florida State, Ohio State, and Georgia State.

Now, if all those visits take place, we'll see.

But how do these scouts from colleges find these high school players? There's like 16,000 high schools Are there like ties to certain high schools that these universes are connected with or do you know anything about that?

Mm.

So we didn't really get to see, like, much of the one on one or seven on seven, but at least from what I saw early portion today, like, I watched the wide receivers, watched the running backs today, watched the quarterbacks, watched the DBs, saw a little bit of the linebackers as well.

Uh, wide receiver-wise, KB was, like, really drilling into the guys today about just, like, finishing on, like, the, the last little details of the reps.

Like, not so much, like, when they're running the route, but, like, at the top- ... of the route.

He was highly emphasizing that today.

Uh, so he was getting on Josh Moore and Daylen Upshaw and everything, just trying to get the best out of those guys.

I will say, though, I mean, Malachi Tony's a pro when it [laughs] comes to all that, though.

And I imagine you, just like I do, get asked about that group a lot by Miami fans thinking, "Hey, is that a big question mark? Is that gonna be a weakness on the team this year?" You do not think that linebacker is gonna be a, quote-unquote, "weakness" this year.

Yeah, I think that group is going to improve.

I think also my assessment of the linebacker group, uh, post-spring, after the spring game and all those 15 practices, I felt it was good that Mario challenged the younger linebackers.

He basically said in the media, he's like, "Hey, you know, if your name's not Mohamed Toure or Chase Smith, you know, you gotta kinda kick it up a gear." And I think those guys responded well to it, uh, specifically like Cam Pruitt, uh, oh my goodness, Kellen Wiley, Ezekiel Marcelin.

Those guys, I think they particularly responded to that.

I've also heard plenty of buzz on Cam Pruitt.

I'm sure some people, if you haven't seen the pictures, the upper body more to that satisfactory level that you want as a linebacker.

I think it's hilarious.

I think off the movement skills and how different it looks with this guy in particular compared to the other guys in the room.

I know a lot of the buzz was heavy on Gavin Mueller when he first arrived.

And look, to his defense, he was banged up in spring.

He didn't get a lot of live reps.

I hope to see him more in fall.

Look, you got to see how the season plays out.

Obviously, Auburn, they got a new coach.

They lost a lot of good skill position guys as well from last year.

Do you think it's turned the corner now where people now are like, all right, he's a great developer too?

I think the schedule is really favorable.

I like what James Franklin's doing with the Hokies.

But then, you know, watching him, you know, put, uh, John Meredith III, the alleged top corner in the class, on roller skates and, and seeing how well Woodard performed at the opening, I kind of transitioned from, "Hey, I'd like to have him," to, "I need [laughs] Eli Woodard at Miami," Gio.

Yeah, no, I, I think that's a fair assessment.

Uh, look, I, I think you're right on the money, too, in the fact that Miami has a very deep receiver room right now, so it's definitely icing on the cake to get a guy like Eli Woodard in, into the stable with the rest of those receivers.

And I look at it like this, too.

Uh, Nick Lanier projects most, uh, to potentially play Z receiver at the next level.

Eli would be a slot.

Uh, you're looking at, like, that being one of the guys after, you know, God willing, that everything goes, continues to go fine with Malachi Tony's career and everything, barring injury, all that stuff.

Uh, what are you hearing about Miami's efforts to possibly flip DJ Jacobs?

I could really care less, but for him to be talking about Miami like that, it's a good sign, man.

Yeah, Miami's been very consistent with Bryson Wright for several years now.

He's been a phenom, basically coming out of the eighth grade into high school, playing for Jacksonville Mandarin, same high school that Carson Beck came out of as well and other Hurricanes in the past.

With him, there's a lot of runway left in that recruitment.

There was some chatter that, oh, you know, potentially he could reclass.

From what I understand, he's going to stick in 2028.

Look, I don't want all kids to take this advice, but some of these kids that decide to stay within their class rather than reclass down, you're kind of driving up your price, actually, staying within your class.

Why did, why do you have so much passion for Miami?

Uh, it was really a thing from when I was a kid, actually.

So like, you know, my older brothers, they liked the Hurricanes.

Uh, really happened when I was about, like, five, six years old.

You know, I kinda discovered them and continued developing from there.

I remember especially when I got to middle school, I mean, the golden years were over at that time.

Like, there was no longer, you know, the 2001 team and everything.

Like, what is it that they do so well that other schools just don't do?

Number one, uh, scenery's definitely very important.

It definitely helps being in the city of Miami.

Number two, uh, Miami's players, I'm not saying there's not other schools like this, but Miami's current players, they get so involved with the recruiting process and, like, selling it to these kids about, like, to come here, to play here.

Like, they really advocate for the program.

Like, yeah, there's other schools that they have players who do so, but Miami's, it's a little bit different.

These guys actually get involved and engaged on these official visits with guys that are just coming out of high school right now who may not even sign with the program, but they're definitely very involved with the process.

You just mentioned something you wanted to hit.

So a lot of connections going on there.

Sort of battling back and forth between Miami, LSU there.

The other one, David Fullertondshow, uh, the five-star D tackle out of Chicago.

He will be announcing May 15th.

Uh, mostly the contenders there, Miami, Notre Dame, Texas Tech still lurking around as well.

I would say mostly Miami and Notre Dame to watch for right now.

Now with NIL, why would you sit around if you're a five star for two or three years, unless you really love the program? So for all these people whining about missing out on, uh, five star recruits, what do you have to say, Gio?

Look, uh, these are what I call the ebbs and flows of recruiting.

Um, when it comes to Mison Johnson Cook, I, I know several Miami fans were upset about that 'cause, because he was projected to come to Miami and everything.

Auburn comes in last minute, uh, they offer a whole bunch of money and whatnot.

Look, it's the same thing like the situation that happened with Derek Cooper last year.

Like Miami was just like, "All right, you know, we're, we're, there" ...

I've said this before.

Uh, are we still in the running for that five-star linebacker? Where are we, or is that slipping away right now?

A&M's kind of been that school this year that Miami's going head-to-head with for a bunch of players.

Yeah, they definitely – Texas A&M seems like a thorn in Miami's side.

I'll say one thing, and I hope people don't take this wrong when I say this, but there's one – I've seen Steve Wilfong's videos pop up in group chats I'm in and whatnot.

I love the way the guy portrays everything.

However, I have no beef with this guy.

So mind you, this is not me creating a beef here.

But I've never understood why year after year that he's tried to at least hype up the Miami fans saying Miami has a shot at the number one class every year.
