So when did you get started on the mink?

Gerald SchmittGUEST
Oh, when I was, right after I graduated high school, I took instructions from a local trapper, Stan Conard, over in the center of Minnesota.

Gerald SchmittGUEST
And he kind of got me going on the mink and the coon and just a long lining part of it.

Gerald SchmittGUEST
Just things that are obvious to me now, but weren't at the time, like put multiple traps at a location and, you know, set a lot of different stops and things like that.

Gerald SchmittGUEST
He showed me how to do a pocket set, basic pocket set and a basic dirt hole.

Gerald SchmittGUEST
And there's definitely a learning curve to, you know, figure out how to lay a line out and all that, all the nuts and bolts of running a long line.
