What else is there that is, I guess, considered part of fire resilient landscape design that's not meeting the, the standard? Is there anything else that's horribly wrong that needs to be corrected?

Gary LaiGUEST
Well, from a landscape point of view, the danger is now in our suburban neighborhoods with co- houses way closer together than they used to be.

Gary LaiGUEST
And those types of neighborhoods, I mean, I'd love to say that, you know, landscape architects will put on their Superman cape, and all of a sudden this problem will go away [chuckles] but it's not true.

Gary LaiGUEST
Uh, you know what the real problem is, is this wildland-urban interface issue and our existing suburban neighborhoods that are built so close together and the new ones that are being built in the interface, right? Um, where landscape can be of help is creating and planning for ecosystems that don't burn as easily or burn, uh, this might sound counterintuitive, burn quickly so that it's not fuel, which is what a lot of native plants do.
