So what conversations are families often avoiding or postponing when cremated remains remain at the home, and how can monument professionals approach those conversations with sensitivity?
14:16
Well, I think, uh, I, I think a lot of people, because we are a transient society, right, and, and we, we, we tell each other or we're, we're talking to folks about embracing the pause, it's during that time is, is, you know, what are our next steps, right? We wanna have a service.
14:33
When are we gonna do that? And then it's, then it's what are we gonna do after the service? And I think that's where the, the real discussion is.
14:42
And I see National Cremation and Placement Day as not necessarily having the day, you know, we'd love to see services all over.
14:50
We'd love to have, have discussions.
14:52
But really maybe setting that as, hey, let's bring, let's bring families in to have the discussion about what the plan is.
15:01
Not necessarily that we're gonna be, uh, having an ur- an urnment or anything like that, but it's the jumping off point to say, hey, you know, where do we go from here? We know that, we know that we're gonna have a service, all right? So that, that's great, but w- what's, what's the next step? Are we, are we looking at a memorial? Where, where's dad gonna be at? And, and having those discussion is really the, is really the next step that I, that I see a lot of monument dealers helping out with, you know? And, and, and where we're at is we're, you know, monuments are a blank palette to, to share your story, right? So how do we share that story, and how do we get that story out? And I, that's where I really believe that, that dealers getting out in the community, having discussions with media, having discussions with local clergy, things like that, is really what's gonna help drive this position and, and the ability to help more families.

And so that's the, you know, again, that's the thing that needs to be celebrated or, at the very least, recognized.
