A little anecdote may be there.

I once tried to explain my job in ISO 20022 to my dad and handed him a copy of the famous or infamous ISO 20022 for Dummies booklet that was created more than 15 years ago by Swift, the financial messaging service provider, and my dad called me the day after and shared he wasn't really any wiser after reading the booklet.

So I tried again by speaking a little bit to his world.

My dad has always been very interested in languages, so I compared ISO 20022 to the Esperanto of the financial industry, explaining that the industry had developed a common language for everyone in the financial industry to adopt in an effort to streamline financial industry communications.
