After 16 years of teaching adults the science of happiness, you started asking, "Why are we waiting to teach kids this?" Is there a-- Was there a particular moment or a client that made you think about that?
1:24
Well, uh, you know, things have been kind of weird in our country lately, and it seems like that there's a lot of polarization going on, and like a lot of people, I started feeling kind of depressed and helpless, and I was like, "Wait a minute.
1:39
I've been teaching Happiness 101, uh, for 16 years and immersing myself in positive psychology.

I, I think I got something to give." And so I, you know, I can't change the political landscape of what's going on, but, you know, and I, I think that that's an important message in all this is like, what can we do? I think these days, even just being kind to one another, understanding, tolerant is so important these days.

And so I, I wanted to-- I don't even work with children, actually.
2:11
I work with adults.
2:12
Mm-hmm.
2:13
But I wanted to catch people, kids, right at that important age where they start to lose that wonderful perspective that kids have.

So Frank, are you able to share your story with us today, please?
3:01
Sure, sure.
3:04
So I guess I'll try, I want to spend more time talking about the rising up part and the resilience part.
3:14
But I think to give it some context, I think telling some of the background might be helpful because I think that, you know, when people meet me, I think that they almost see me sometimes as two-dimensionally.
3:31
They think, oh, he's probably never had a tough day in his life.
3:35
And boy, that's really not true at all.
3:39
And so to give some background, knowing what I know about positive psychology, I really have to even go back before I was even born.
