Where do you think this staying up all night and thinking about something and going over something you said comes from? Is there an event in your life where you think, oh my God, you know, I said this to someone and this happened? Yes.
2:14
Yes.
2:15
I mean, I went through a whole ton of shit in my late 20s, early 30s.
2:23
And I guess I've spent the last seven years writing and talking around events, but never about them necessarily.
2:34
talking more about the feelings and the repercussions and the hangover from it.
2:40
And it was a deeply challenging era that still troubles me greatly.
2:47
And I'm still in therapy every damn week.
5:31
yeah.
7:18
Like who? Like what people did you have?
7:19
One that stands out, which I'll never forget.
7:21
It was at Maida Vale.
7:22
And I was quite literally stood in a big studio with my producer, Just Us Two, and Eminem, on his own, stood as far as you are away from me now, rapping in my face.
7:35
And I'm just stood there going, how is this happening? Like this shouldn't be happening.
7:40
I'm just some twerp from the suburbs.
7:42
What is going on? And you see the level of exception with someone of his caliber.
11:19
you are in control right now.
1:32
What's
1:33
that meant to you? Oh, my God.
1:35
It's been the whole thing has just been, you know, I've got to start with my stepkids because I have the most beautiful relationship with them.
1:44
I love the bones of them.
1:47
And they've brought me so much joy and so much happiness.
1:50
And I still think there's a long way to go when we talk about blended families.
1:56
and how amazing it can be.
3:59
very bones of them.
26:18
And you, you go on to say, you know, that basically this kind of behavior had a detrimental effect on your health.
26:26
Yeah.
26:26
Yeah, without a doubt.
26:27
I mean, I think if I, uh, not that all of it is, um, t- to sort of blame, I guess, um, for some of the, the things that I've been through physically or mentally, but I think they've definitely, my need to be liked has definitely impacted me in lots of negative ways.
26:46
Um, I think mentally, you know, I've had a really rough time mentally in my early 30s, and I think a lot of that was because it was a time where I felt very aware that people didn't like me or were talking about me in quite a negative way, and I didn't know how to handle that.
27:02
I couldn't, I couldn't level with it.
27:05
I just, I inherently thought there was something wrong with me if people were saying something negative about me, whereas now I can separate the two and go, "Right, that's someone's opinion, but I know myself." And I didn't have that confidence back then, so that sent me down a terrible, you know, mental path.
29:18
So if people are listening to this, they're watching this right now, how do they turn things around for them? How do they like themselves more? How do they move forward in their lives?
