But how do you get them to that one idea? How do you walk them through? Do you have a process or do you is it different with every person? What are some things that have been successful for you?
4:54
Well, I wish I could just say, here's a five-step linear process, and then we all come to these startling moments of clarity.
5:01
For most of us, when it comes to really developing out our thought leadership, saying the things that only you can say, giving the speech that only you can give, for most of us, it's been years of... processing the world, your stories and your expertise and figuring out, hey, what are my unique opinions on things? One thing that I encourage all of my clients to do, I have this whole hot takes exercise, I walk them through.
5:29
A hot take is just a strongly held opinion that you have about, well, you can have them about anything, but I always encourage my clients to figure out what are the hot takes that you have about your field or your industry or your topic? so when you think about it so for example as a public speaking coach one of the hot takes i have is that you don't have a delivery problem you have a content problem i just shared kind of about that a minute ago a lot of speech coaches would disagree with me they're like actually doesn't matter how good your content is it's all about delivery but one of my hot takes is you don't have a you don't have delivery problems content problem But figure out for you, what are 10 things that you believe about your topic? And then don't worry about, again, making them sound exciting.
6:13
You can do that.
6:13
You know, I think that's a really great thing to do to come up with this kind of pithy, memorable quotes.
6:17
You can be quotable about whether you're writing a book or giving that speech.

13:43
I fell asleep."
13:44
Yeah.
13:44
Yeah.
13:44
But you know, who's gonna, who's gonna, who's gonna tell the CEO like, "Oh, that wasn't great"? Um, or they will maybe it's like maybe you have a sense or maybe you kinda get some feedback.
13:53
It's like, ah, that humor just don't land quite right or that didn't work.
13:56
Um, so I always say I'm the professional feedback giver who comes and gives very specific things that you don't need to hire a speech coach to tell you some of these things.
14:04
You can even just pull a few people together and say, "Hey, I'm trying to work on my speaking, speaking.
