But how did you get into fashion media? What did you want to be when you grew up in New York City?
10:38
I definitely didn't expect to work in fashion.
10:41
I mean, I've told the story before, but basically I'm a first generation American.
10:46
My parents are immigrants, like moved here from China and Taiwan in the 70s.
10:53
And my dad has done every job in New York.
10:56
I mean, if an American dream still existed, he would be that.
11:01
I obviously am feeling like big cynical feelings about the state of America.

10 MINS LATER

21:22
But did you feel like the closing of Lucky and the rise of Instagram were somehow connected? And also, why did you decide to go to Instagram? Like, what was the opportunity to do?

things.
20:36
So she had to find a part-time job thanks to her profession.
20:39
She could.
20:40
Then she came home realizing that her daughter was starving and she doesn't understand because her daughter is on bottle feeding.
20:48
So how could she be so starving? And then the mother-in-law casually tell her that, well, I think the baby formula is very good.
20:54
So I had it instead of feeding her daughter.
20:57
And then mother-in-law casually said, that's just a baby daughter.

And so there were a lot of issues in the Asian communities and through your platform you were able to provide those informations to the moms and new migrants and all that and just to make them be more alert about what's going on and how to protect themselves and their family yeah
140:09
the display feels like science fiction today.
140:12
We need to get there, but for now, like with these new glasses, the ability to be able to kind of have that experience of seeing something, asking Meta AI, "Hey, Meta, how would you describe this dress?" And they would say, "Oh, this is like a 1950s fit and flare dress style." That's gonna be so helpful for people as they're learning and stretching in the fashion industry.
140:50
It's just like instant, right?
140:51
Yeah, there's a lot of friction right now just in general with fashion, right? Like, I'm on Instagram, I'm scrolling, I see a friend's really cute outfit.
140:59
I have to tap.
141:00
If she didn't tag it, then I have to like- Screen grab it, WhatsApp it to her and be like, "Hey, Ami, where are these shoes from?" And then she has to write back, then I Google it, and it's just so many steps from inspiration to actual purchase.
141:13
And I mean, listen, that's my dream, like in terms of Reality Labs, to get there, to make commerce easier.
141:21
But for now, I think in terms of the everyday consumer, just being able to see the world around you in 3D, to be able to like ask questions and feel like you're being interactive, it's amazing.
