Perhaps you could give the listeners a sense of what it's like at the moment, because there have been times when Kyiv has actually been spared much of what the rest of Ukraine has faced, but it's been pretty intense of late, hasn't it?

Yes.

Basically from the beginning of May, um, we've seen a heightened number of attacks from Russia.

It was basically around the, the period of the traditional Russian ninth of May Victory Day parade.

Russia was obviously very nervous that Ukraine might try to disrupt it, and it started to issue threats to strike Kyiv, uh, very heavily if Kyiv should do so.

Uh, President Zelensky rather cheekily issued a decree permitting the Kremlin to go ahead with its parade and exempting the area of Red Square from attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

And there was no attack on the, the parade, of course.

Is this forcing a slight sense of adjustment that these, these are real strikes rather than the, the slightly performative ones that have been happening in earlier months?
