And hopefully, as diagnosis and awareness becomes more common, um uh common I hope that those other symptoms don't come up as much

Estelle RoseGUEST
yeah I think the whole you're absolutely right the whole emotional side that comes with ADHD is completely overlooked by the diagnosis.

Estelle RoseGUEST
But to sort of justify it a little bit, I think it's because a lot of the symptoms can be, also be other conditions or life experiences and again I'll go back to you know trauma and PTSD there's also a huge overlap in symptoms and again but then you know was it a chicken and an egg thing because if you've when you're late diagnosed and I'm not even talking about PTSD, just, you know, normal life trauma, let's call it.

... and that maybe there were actually more than just him, uh, who were, uh, not diagnosed and, and, and so, and that could include me.

Estelle RoseGUEST
Um, and, um, so yeah, so that was first my own, you know, my own discovery, and I started to look around and, and I still felt very frustrated.

Estelle RoseGUEST
Although it's not that many years ago now, it's probably about six years ago, um, a lot have changed already in, in, in, in awareness, and hopefully I might have contributed to, to that a little bit, but I'm definitely not the only one.

Estelle RoseGUEST
A lot of us have started to speak out and write on the subject, but at the time, there was still not that much around ADHD in adult women, so I couldn't really find the resources.

Estelle RoseGUEST
And then I did the thing of talking to my GP and then getting diagnosed, and it's a very formal and boring and, I mean, now even longer process.

Estelle RoseGUEST
And, and at the end of that, all I was offered is medication and, and that was it.

I'd love to hear some more sort of maybe struggles that aren't spoken about enough that are dark sides linked to hormones, societal expectations leading to masking that maybe just are not spoken about enough to, to help some women out go, "Oh my God, thank you," you know, "Thank you someone's speaking about this."
