Was that a gradual process or you needed to keep these people engaged? How did the next step happen?

No, it probably wasn't a gradual process but, you know, I probably just enjoyed building things and in 2000 I bought the seaport across the road and that was probably the catalyst to get me going and again I said to Craig, a friend who came over and worked for me, are you happy to have a crack at this if I buy this? Because if he decided he wanted to go and go around Australia for the next five years, I would have had to rethink that.

So I bought the seaport off Les Dick.

And the seaport basically was all the waterfront just across the road.

Had a big hole in the ground and it was a dry dock.

And I went along to Jim Bacon and John Lewis at the time.

So Jim was the Premier and John Lewis was the Mayor and said, look, I think if you guys tip some money into this and we can get some money out of the feds to fix Town Wharf, I could do this.

So how did it actually develop in your mind and the hurdles that you've had to try and bring it to fruition?
