Can you kind of explain that and tell us how that might, as a screenwriter or a novelist wanting to break in, how the 60-30-10 rule should apply to our early processes?
4:42
Yeah, I mean it's a very unscientific estimate that I did for the book of what percentage of – there's three stages to writing something and what percentage of each is important.
4:54
So basically there's the initial concept, the idea of the story, the basic thing you would put in a log line.
5:00
If you had like – 10 seconds or 30 seconds.
5:03
And he said, my movie is about this, you know, the main character has this problem and this goal, and this is what they're doing.
5:07
And this is what's in the way.
5:09
This is, you know, the basic, the basic problem at the heart of the movie and what genre it is.

23 MINS LATER

So life altering.

(clears throat)
14:46
For me, I used a crowdfunding platform similar to a Kickstarter, only instead of donations, people can become part of the movie as investors.
14:57
I used a site called Wefunder, which apparently was made possible by a law passed during the Obama administration where investors of as little as $100 can become investors in a startup company or a film.
15:11
So, this website attracts amateur and professional investors who wanna get in on sometimes a very low level on various companies.
15:18
And there are some films on there that had raised two, $300,000.
15:22
So, I used that site, and it took a while, and it wasn't easy to try to raise money.
15:29
And then I also found these nonprofits that were interested in Polarization and thought the film was helpful for that cause.
16:50
Well, 'cause do you start marketing it before the film is done, or do you wait until you have something to show people?
