So how did you both as the researchers come up with this topic to study?

So, we have a colleague, Dr. Nathan Hall at Texas Tech, who does a lot of olfactory work.

And we're in an ag department here at Virginia Tech.

So, trying to meld our foci of dog behavior and agricultural outcomes seemed really useful.

And when I was in Montana, I'd go hiking with my dog every day.

And we had some partnerships with Working Dogs for Conservation out there with our dog training program.

I always just thought their work was fascinating and amazing.

But so why is involving the public so valuable? And how does citizen science actually expand what researchers are able to accomplish? Yeah.
