What was it like, you know, being at the leading edge of all of that, at the forefront of all of that?

It was extremely exciting.

Again, I think, you know, we had a sense that this was a great place to be w- in terms of where we were working, and that it was definitely taking off and becoming something big.

But it became bigger than I think.

It, it took us a while to get a sense of exactly how big it was going to get.

Yeah, so the immediate aftermath, uh, the paper certainly got some good attention, but at the time, there were still relatively few labs working on CRISPR.

About a month or so before we submitted our paper, another paper came out from John Van der Oost's lab that showed that CRISPR had RNA guides that were essential for the overall process.

Where do you see this going? Do you think that the innovation's gonna come from these new technologies, or do we need to refine the ones that we already have? And to what end? I guess ultimately it's for the clinic, right?
