Well, what exactly are your sources telling you is the nature of their fear? What do they know in the background, and how does it relate to the men in masks who were found in this van? What, what, what are you starting to try to put together here?
4:39
So they, they take me back to July when Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which basically controls the security services in that country, threatened to go after bases in England, basically because they're saying that England is helping participate in the war against Iran.
5:03
But these threats were very general.
5:05
They were not specific about time or exactly where in the base they might hit.
5:10
But what these sources of mine were telling me was that two weeks or so before these vans showed up, American officials, along with some of their British counterparts, got new information that was much more specific about the threat to the base itself and who perhaps could be behind it.
5:30
And suddenly, this created a much greater sense of urgency that an attack might be imminent.
5:37
Around this same time, British officials in the town had been warning, uh, people to be aware of anything that looked suspicious.

16 MINS LATER

Is it worth it?
10:25
He told me why removing the bombers was almost unprecedented.
10:29
Obviously, if these, uh, aircraft were in a war zone and faced an imminent threat, and they didn't feel they were properly defended, then of course the US would pull them out.
10:38
But here we are talking about a, a base in, uh, in Southern England, uh, long time used by these bombers for different missions, most recently in the Iran war.
10:49
And within a period of 24, 36 hours or so over the weekend, uh, US commanders got new intelligence, uh, that some warnings about an Iran-backed plot that they'd been tracking now for some weeks, uh, that this new information had come in that escalated the threat and created more urgency.
11:08
Uh, and rather than wai- wait, the American Air Force decided to pull all 12 of its B1 bombers, including some that had just arrived in the last week or so.
11:17
How precise has Washington been about the nature of this threat?
11:21
Well, the information that they have is, is highly classified, so you can imagine that sources aren't going into a lot of detail.
11:28
Uh, but what I have learned from my, uh, sources is that they feared, uh, that the base and the bombers and the American personnel and British personnel on the base could come under some kind of attack.
