It's a universal
9:22
gettable across cultures, that three is one of the most powerful things.
9:25
We've tapped into this.
9:26
I learned because I made, as you mentioned at the top of the thing, I made an award-winning film called The Journey, and I have interviewed iconic leaders and visionaries and pioneers for the last few decades.
9:38
And it's really fascinating to talk to people of proven depth and character and to distill their wisdom.
9:44
Yeah, and if I ask somebody, what's one thing you've learned about leadership? Somebody will go on and talk for a while, and if I'm editing that piece, they'll say something really brilliant at two minutes, then they'll wander off and talk about their cat for a minute, then they'll come back and then talk about leadership again, and then something else will interrupt it and then come back.
10:02
And so when I go to put that together, I'll have to watch that whole hour and then slice it together and figure out how to piece it all.
14:23
I'm April 4th.
5:00
So what's the difference there? What have you seen, I guess?
5:05
I guess some of the characteristics, well, and that's a really beautiful way that you describe it, right? Because really, we're all ordinary people.
5:12
I mean, except, you know, I guess somebody's born with some incredible skill that's just a once in a lifetime.
5:16
And so that's an exception to the rule.
5:18
But for the most part, when we look at what it takes to be extraordinary, it's ordinary people who are choosing to live by extraordinary principles.
5:30
and that those compound over time.
5:32
And so that's really one of the big ahas.

11:15
Well, three things is a great,
38:57
And I was just wondering, is there, was there one thing in common from all these people that you could put your finger on for anyone listening at home thinking, well, what a mine, where's, where's a place to start looking for a, an operational principle?
39:10
You know, one of the things that to your question there, one of the big ahas for me early on was looking at extraordinary people, people who had written a great book or had come up with some revolutionary horse training technology or a world renowned glassblower or a famous comedian or just all these people that I got a chance to meet.
39:33
And as I did interviews with people, I would ask them, you know, what's the lesson that you've learned about communication? What have you learned about negotiating? What have you learned about business? And they all shared great wisdom, all of them, because they're on the court.
39:45
They're not up in the stands.
39:46
They're on the court playing the game, and they're learning.
39:50
But one of the big ahas for me, I guess the secret sauce, our movie has been, we're so lucky that the Journey film has influenced lots of people for now decades.
40:01
And one of the secret sauces to that film was at some point during every interview, I would ask the guest, what are you struggling with? Good.
43:42
yeah tell me about uh tell me about the the card game my friend

41:07
And why just three things? Why not ten things or five things? Why is three the magic number?
41:13
The magic? Well, there's a song, right? Three is the magic number, right? It's true.
41:17
Yeah.
41:17
That's pretty much the reason why three.
41:20
It's incredible that we stumbled upon this.
41:22
I'm a filmmaker.
41:23
I made it that journey that I took turned into an award winning film that.

Is it like just as you thought it would be or like what was that like and how do you see people change or interact or, you know, what is that? Oh, I love it.
18:38
you know and so but wisdom's different than knowledge how is wisdom different than knowledge and why is it important
18:45
technology can answer almost any question but it cannot tell you what grandma learned after 50 years of marriage or what your friend discovered after rebuilding from failure or what your daughter dreams of becoming those answers still live inside of people.
19:04
And for centuries, families and communities gathered to share more than information.
19:09
They shared lessons, they celebrated milestones, and they helped one another navigate life.
19:15
And so what we realized, I read this great quote in college that said, to know the road ahead, ask those coming back.
19:24
And the idea there is that anything that we want to learn about anything is really an inspired conversation away.
19:30
And so when we started, as you know, I've been speaking and coaching and doing all the things that we have a similar path.
22:51
For you, do you think this game facilitates that? And it is also faith-based as well? Or is there any integral part of spirituality or faith intertwined in these conversations of wisdom?
