Eric, as a realtor, do you have concerns about how desirable these neighborhoods are going to be if municipalities lose this funding from property taxes?
11:24
The thing is that when I sell a house, 90% of the people that are buying a house from me ask, what are the parks like? What kind of neighborhood fees are associated with this? Are their streets being maintained publicly by local entities and municipalities? If we're not paying into that fund that you can budget year after year after year, now those parks are not going to look as good as they were.
11:55
You know, you're talking about cutting funds for no-kill shelters because we don't have the budget, because we've cut property taxes.
12:04
When you look at the parks, the playgrounds, the public spaces, the locally maintained roads, those four things create a neighborhood.
12:11
And so you as a homeowner might save some money.
12:16
But if you go to try to sell that house and now the parks look like terrible, that, you know, the roads are just in horrible condition, you know, you're affecting everybody.
12:28
And that is really key because trying to walk this back, try to correct this, you're opening Pandora's box and you're never going to be able to get that back.
17:26
When was the last time you saw all of these folks in alignment on something? That needs to give voters pause.
