What about, I wanna hear about each of your first races as a professional athlete.

First race as a pro.

I guess that would...

I- technically, that would be some, um, some race over in Europe after I, after I graduated, um, in Oregon in, uh, uh, in 2015.

But, um, I don't know.

... and it's, it's the most fun.

And then, like, outside of the top 20 in the world, most people are making very little to not, not much to nothing.

Yeah, there's a, a big drop-off, right? Big, big shelf.

I think also, like, the, the interesting thing about the running contracts is that they, because the, the, the top athletes get paid a decent amount out the gate, and then, and I, I, I don't know if this is, if this is the same now as it was when we were, when we were competing and signed.

But there, it was like, "We'll give you a good amount upfront, and then if you don't run really well, there's gonna be some pretty steep declines in, in the contracts." Um, right? Like, a, the, a very p- a, the common thing from, for most Nike athletes, a- and Nike w- was one of the, you know, kind of dominated the, the distance events at least, um, for a while, right? They would, they would be offering the most.

And if you didn't come top, if you didn't make teams, if you didn't, um, compete X amount of times a year, if you didn't, you know, do, do X, Y, and Z, then, you know, your, your, your base salary is gonna get cut for the next year.

And it wasn't necessarily automatic.

Um, certain athletes, if, they could kind of pick and choose, right? Who, who they wanted to cut and who they wanted to, to be more lenient with.
