As the battle over California's Proposition 8, which would make marriage here heterosexual only, comes down to the wire, we wanted you to hear first-hand from a couple together for 55 years before they could finally legally be wed in their home state.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom married them June 16th after California's Supreme Court ruled it was unconstitutional to deny same-sex couples that civil proceeding.

Half of this couple barely lived to see it.
