That's correct, and we have several missions in the Coast Guard.

We have 11 missions, and the only mission we don't do in Texas is icebreaking.

Uh, thank God, right? That happens, then we're in trouble.

But, uh, during my career, I was a prevention officer, so it was all about vessel inspections, safety, security.

For about four years, I did, uh, pollution prevention, and that's when I was deployed to Hurricane Katrina pollution response.

Um, people, they don't understand that the Coast Guard is the federal on-scene coordinator when we have an oil spill or hazardous material released in our waters.

So in what way is the Houston Ship Channel the backbone of the nation?
