4:28
Why?
4:29
We went up to New Hampshire and interviewed people, did man on the street about, you know, what is a Masshole, and one of the big things that came up w- was driving specifically, and a lot of people talked about merging.
4:41
For some reason, there's something called the zip emerge.
4:43
I don't even know what that is.
4:44
[laughs]
4:45
But, 'cause I'm a Masshole.
4:47
[laughs] But, you know, I always think, and this is how I was, you know, not, I didn't learn this from my parents, but this is how I think, that if there's a open lane of traffic, you should go in it and go, because it helps the overall flow of traffic.
7:52
So talk a little bit more about your role in establishing a relationship with your social media audience so that you can entice at least some of them into signing up for a subscription.
8:04
Yeah.
8:04
So basically, I'm still writing my Blotter Tales column.
8:07
I'm still doing, uh, the cold case files for The Globe.
8:11
But the rest of my workday is spent focusing on, on video, and what we're doing is just trying to get more Globe stories on social media platforms like, you know, TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and yeah, and it just a- attract, like, new audiences, different audiences, people like that, you know, maybe normally won't, wouldn't subscribe to The Globe, maybe people who haven't, like, heard of The Globe, like, just kind of expand our audience.
8:41
And I think that is definitely needed, [laughs] and it's a good thing.
8:46
And I, you know, I w- with how people are consuming news these days, you know, th- a lot of these platforms, uh, I feel like, you know, have kinda taken over the way people consume news, you know? A- and people are swiping, like, on TikTok, you know? And I think we need to, like, meet people where they are.

6 MINS LATER

14:56
But you're not, uh, a 20-something either, so why do you think you're able to connect with a younger audience in a way that many of your generational peers haven't figured out yet?
2:15
Why did he do that, and what was it like when he arrived on Boston Common?
2:19
Yeah, so he walked a long way in a kilt across the country, and he was using Boston Common as his finish line.
2:27
And so I was there along with countless Scottish fans who were there to cheer him on when he arrived.
2:36
And I got to say, it was a huge, huge crowd on Boston Common.
2:40
People playing bagpipes, people holding flags, singing.
2:45
It was such a I mean, it was the crowd was huge.
2:48
It was really hard to even like get to Craig when he arrived.
4:08
Why do you think that's resonating the way that it is with everyone who's watching?
0:22
One's a journalist staying true to her Boston roots, and the people are here for it.
0:27
So many people were commenting about, like, what I sounded like and what I was wearing.
0:31
It's surprising, 'cause I'm like, I, I feel like I sound totally normal.

5 MINS LATER

5:48
About a month ago, he got on the subway wearing something that's changed his life and attracted a lot of attention.
5:53
This guy got on the train, and then he's like, "Holy!" [laughs] And then he's like, "That is awesome! What can you do with that?" [laughs] I was like, "You know," and I was start, starting to show him, and he's like, "That's so cool."
13:12
I recently caught up with her to talk about the newfound attention, journalism, and the role she's calling a dream job.
13:19
So I went to high school in the city.
13:21
I went to Boston Latin School.
13:23
I played on the boys' hockey team.
13:24
There was no girls' team at the time.
13:26
And I ended up going to Northeastern University to play ice hockey.
13:31
My original plan was pre-med, but the, uh, labs kinda interfered with hockey practice, so I was like, "Oh, it's time to ch- you know, change majors."
14:51
They were saying things like, "I trust her," and, "I want her to tell me all of the news." Like, what do you think that says about what people want?
