Tell us a bit about you, and, um, yeah, all your experience and stuff, and what you specialize in.
1:04
Yeah.
1:04
So yeah, so I started working with children and young people whilst I was doing my undergraduate, um, degree in psychology around sort of 13, 14 years ago now.
1:13
And I think I kind of went into psychology thinking I wanted to work sort of with adults, but I realized actually working with the children we could put lots of, um, different measures in place at a preventative level.
1:23
So that's what led me to do child and educational psychology.
1:27
Um, so I went on and completed my doctorate back in 2022 at Tavistock and Portman.
1:32
Um, and since then I've been working in a local authority, and I've been doing some private work, and I mainly, you know, work with sort of schools and parents to think about kind of, you know, what might, their child might be struggling with.
6:12
Yeah.
21:35
Yes, it is.
21:36
My truth is that you have to reinvent yourself more than once when you're trying to work around children.
21:42
I think I had assumed that you would start off freelancing, and that would just carry on until my children left.
21:50
But my life doesn't look the same as it did when my kids were six and three or 10 and seven.
21:56
Um, now they're 17 and 14.
21:58
We have quite a different life, and my work, um, fits in a different way.
22:03
So at the moment I make podcasts for people.
9:17
What sort of things when you say, like, you know, unmet needs?
9:21
Yeah, I think sometimes parents go into parenting having this sort of view.
9:26
That, you know, their child is going to be this certain way, do this certain thing and perhaps do the things that they didn't achieve in their childhood.
9:31
So you see a lot where, you know, parents are encouraging in a lovely way and it's great.
9:35
You want your kids to do well.
9:37
Of course you do.
9:37
You're a parent.

I don't want her to suffer like me.
