There's a physiological element to it.

Oh, you are so right.

And you know, the thing is, it's kind of an invisible physiological element because, and I will introduce myself in a moment, the standard that really has been set as the tone or the kind of exemplar of how we're supposed to be in business is really built on a very different model than the one that female brains and female bodies run on.

We also have to remember that that exemplar was set largely in the 30s, 40s, and 50s, and then, of course, beyond that, by men who were in the workforce who had the support of a spouse, a wife, at home to take care of all of the other stuff in life for them.

I'm Ellen Petrie-Liance, and I spent about 45 years working in Silicon Valley, beginning at early Apple, and going through a lot of phases as an entrepreneur at Google during a very high growth period as a venture capitalist slash investor, and then becoming a teacher of creativity and innovation at Stanford University.

But my real passion is for women in leadership and the importance of us understanding how We are the balance that the world needs to create sustainable ways of living, working, and creating the future that we want to be part of.
