Ellen, for those who are unfamiliar, what is the scope of care for midwives?

The scope of care for midwives is prenatally.

So as soon as you realize you're pregnant or even some people before they're pregnant, they try to find midwifery cares if they're trying to get pregnant.

And then it's for the whole entire prenatal period.

and then during intrapartum, so during the time of your birth, and then for six weeks afterwards.

Some Indigenous communities choose to take care of their community members beyond the six weeks, but in general, it's for six weeks postpartum.
