I asked Ella what attracted her to the Morphe residency.

I think theological themes have been something that have always sort of surfaced themselves or rumbled underneath the surface of my work and being able to be in a space and in a community that allowed you to focus on that fully and be able to have very open but also in-depth conversations and critical conversations about theology and about faith in relation to art and art making.

was something I hadn't seen before.

And I'd been sort of thinking about myself, but had never put into practice.

And so it's wonderful to get to sort of really get to grips with these theological discussions.

And it's not just about being an isolated artist in your practice and what you do in your studio, which can be so atomizing.
