But it does signal that we're approaching some time of disruption or maybe already in it, as you say.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
It's sort of, at this point, common sense, right? I think Trump's reelection really cemented the fact that there's something fundamental shifting at this time.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
So when we were writing, which was before we started this book three or four years ago, so we could see the cracks already, and they've only gotten wider.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
But we decided during the writing of the book that we didn't want to take a doom and gloom approach.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
And in fact, I don't think one is warranted because there's so much good work going.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
There are people actively trying to reinvent the system in a better way.

I think the truth comes out in the edge cases where you have to trade off being a nice guy, as it were, with favoring shareholders.

How did you select your topic? What was that process, and, and how long does it take to write a book like this?

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
So we were chatting before the recording started, and I said this is a topic I love, um, because I, I've been a writer my whole career, um, which is almost thirty years now as a journalist, um, and an author and a writer.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
And I really believe in writing as something that is good for people to do, right? Getting the words from inside your head out onto the page, making those constant decisions about which word is right, which order, how you construct the sentences, I believe is really good for your, for your mind, for your brain, and even your spirit.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
Um, so I really encourage people to do it, and I've worked with many, many business executives who have used writing and writing books as a tool to become better leaders and also better people.

Elizabeth MacBrideGUEST
So I wrote Capital Evolution with a co-author, um, that's my friend and longtime writing partner, Seth Levine.
