So tell us just kind of a little bit why you wrote this book, and I think that'll help get us into our back-to-school conversation.

Sure.

Well, my daughter Avery, my third child, I have girl, boy, girl, girl.

And Avery is my kid who, I mean, sports are her favorite thing.

She loves sports and she loves Jesus.

That's Avery's life.

And she plays lacrosse.

And so how do we help our children navigate failure in a way that's God honoring as moms who are seeking Jesus?

... um, the idea for this devotional?

Yeah, so Avery, sports have always been a huge part of her life, and even her identity.

You know? Like, "Hey, who, who are you? What do you do?" You, you always ask kids, like, "What are you into?" And she's like, "Oh, I play softball.

I play lacrosse." And as she got older and lacrosse became more and more of something that she loved, watching the journey that she would go on year after year of the excitement and the build-up heading into the season, and tryouts, and the insecurity of, "Oh, am I gonna make the team? And then if I do make the team, what's my role gonna be?" And then from there, you make the team, and you're on, and you're playing.

And then there's that mid-season grind where you are just so overwhelmed and exhausted.

Like you're doing what you love, but you are exhausted doing it.

Just watching her go through that emotional journey while trying to pursue God, you know, it was, during the season, it was like this was the time in her life she needed God the most but had the least time in which to pursue him.
