Yeah.
12:34
Okay.
12:35
All right.
12:36
So one of the first things that is stated in the, in the podcast is that Elizabeth Shore was Marvin Margolis, his last known boyfriend.
12:46
and uh there were actually in the district attorney files the police referred to him as her last known boyfriend but what they really meant was that he was a friend of hers who was a boy there was no evidence whatsoever that they had actually had any romantic involvement she stayed with margolis and robinson for 10 days between october 10th and october 22nd 1946.
13:10
Nobody has ever attested to there being any kind of dating involved in that.
13:14
Again, there were three women who lived with them at the apartment.

Why are we starting with me? Why am I in the hot seat? No, it's all good.
18:22
It's all good.
18:24
Yeah, I mean, listen, I love documentaries, and I'm just going to be honest.
18:29
You know...
18:32
I'm going to be honest.
18:33
I struggle a little bit with this one.

20 MINS LATER

39:03
I mean, there's literally another documentary coming out on something that rhymes with uh wet hicks uh it's coming out um and uh what do you attribute the momentum to uh eli i'm not sure if i'm allowed to mention it so there if i come up with a weird rhyme but eli why are we still interested in this case uh all these years later
7:08
Do you think if he finally really knew that Terry Melcher was not in the house, he would have called this off?
7:15
No, he did know that Melcher wasn't there.
7:18
He had stolen a telescope off of, uh, or he sent somebody to go s- steal a telescope off of Melcher's deck at the home he was actually living at in Malibu at the time.
7:29
Uh, but I don't think it mattered to Manson.
7:31
He actually, this is a fascinating story, in March of 1969, about five or six months before the murders, Manson actually showed up at the Cielo Drive house where he thought Melcher was still living.
7:45
He wanted to confront Melcher because he hadn't shown up for, uh, he had promised Charlie he was gonna stop by Spahn Ranch, where Charlie and the Manson family lived, and he was gonna finally listen to Charlie play music and decide whether he wanted to sign him, give him a record deal or not.
8:01
And he didn't s- he didn't show up for that meeting, which enraged Manson.

14:26
What is your fascination, Eli, with this story?
24:02
Your thoughts on what we are witnessing here?
24:05
Yeah, well, you know, usually when we take a look at interrogation videos on STS, like we're talking about all the little tells, the little body language giveaways that, you know, where you can tell they're lying or they're trying to figure out what the answer is.
24:19
And, you know, just be on the lookout for things that are indications that the mind is moving and trying to figure out how to get out of a situation or how to explain something.
24:30
What's interesting about Taylor Parker is that she is a really good liar.
24:35
If you found out later that she actually had given birth and had never been responsible for any murder, this would actually look like a pretty natural moment for her where she's like, what the hell are you talking about? Did I do something wrong? She's very good.
24:51
But I don't think she's a good liar because she's necessarily some sociopathic genius who knows how to act and perform.
24:59
I think she has fully bought into her lies.

25 MINS LATER

49:36
What do you what do you make of the empathy that he's showing during this interview here so far?
16:43
So what did you find out? What is your opinions about why she went to San Diego? What did your research tell you?
16:50
Yeah.
16:51
So the clue and by the way, the San Diego trip is this big mystery.
16:57
On December 9th, 1946, almost exactly one month before she disappears and is held by the killer for six days, she goes to San Diego and there's no rhyme or reason why she did that.
17:10
And she had never been there before.
17:11
She didn't know anybody there.
17:13
She didn't have any money.

9 MINS LATER

26:23
Do you want us to, do you want to talk about the contradictions or do we need to read that? What was contradictory?
5:58
I mean, why didn't investigators make that connection? If, you know, did police travel from LA to Kansas City to see if, what similarities there were?
6:08
were?Yeah.
6:10
So the reason the LAPD were even aware of this murder was that in nineteen forty-four, there was a, a murder in, in Los Angeles, a woman named Elizabeth Castaneda who was, uh...
6:20
She had nothing to do with the Black Dahlia or Leila Welsh, but she was murdered in a hotel room.
6:24
And at the time, the Kansas City Police Department, who never solved the Leila Welsh murder, reached out to LAPD and asked for some help to see if possibly the killer of Elizabeth Castaneda could have been the killer of Leila Welsh.
6:38
And they gave a bunch of information to the LAPD, and eventually, uh, Los Angeles police found the killer, and he was not connected to the murder in Kansas City.
6:48
But they had what we can call an institutional memory of the Leila Welsh murder.

10 MINS LATER

16:43
Ah, okay.
