What I'd like to start with is what was it like for women and women swimmers 100 years ago?

Well, um, the 1920s was an interesting time for women and women swimmers in particular.

The world was changing quickly.

This is post-World War I. We'd been through this horrible conflagration of geopolitical consequence, and women were sorting out rights.

I mean, in 1920 in America, women finally got the right to vote.

So women were coming into their own, getting a voice in politics and in public life.

And also at the same time, swimming itself was, was rising in, you know, popularity.

So what impact did Trudy have on society at the time, do you think?
